Ear Cropping


Dr. Patricia Edwards artistically designs ears  that accent the head and expression of each  individual dog. She has cropped thousands of puppies from all over the world during her thirty nine years in practice. She has experience cropping ALL dog breeds, both common and rare, that are customarily cropped.  Not all Veterinarians have the training or expertise to crop ears correctly.

Dr. Edwards is experienced in corrective taping as well as the surgical recropping and repair of problem ears. If you live out of her practice area, personal telephone and E-mail consultations can be conveniently arranged.

When done properly by an experienced Veterinarian, the ear cropping procedure is relatively safe and trauma free. With proper medication and care, there are very few complications and mimimal discomfort.

All surgery done at the River Cliff Animal Hospital is done with care and concern for the patient's welfare. Dr. Edwards has many years experience administering anesthesia to very young patients. Consequently she has  developed an anesthesia protocol that is as safe as possible. Every surgical patient has an intravenous catheter placed and is intubated. Each patient is carefully maintained during surgery and  recovery  on a temperature controlled warm water heating pad to prevent hypothermia. All vital signs are constantly monitored by a surgical techincian and some of the best electronic monitoring equipment available.

Patient welfare, comfort and pain control is always a priority.
